I may miss the DDO Badlands weekend. The initial class I want to take for upgrading my amateur radio license is that Saturday. Are there any other "Hams" in the club?

I actually take that back on the ZJ comments. I loved my 5.9L grands. I owned two of them, at the same time. The only crappy part was the premium gas they both had to take.

September 28th-29th. We will be staying at Summer's Camp Grounds, about 10 minutes away from Badlands.

How far are you going to upgrade?? When you get ready to sit for your test... go for the Extra test as long as you are there. It didn't cost anymore last I knew.

I have a Technicians license at the moment. The study class, in Aurora, is for a General license. 40 yrs ago, when I was in tech school, I could have passed an Advanced class exam (in the sample tests, I couldn't quite pass the Extra). I haven't used a lot of the theory and the hobby has changed over the years. I was offered to test for the General after I finished my exam, but I knew I couldn't pass it.

Most of the stuff you found hard is pretty much gone now. The digital stuff and operating behavior stuff is the emphasis now. Theory is the same as it always was. That stuff hasn't changed since Marconi. I'm coming up on my second renewal of my tech license.
