I have a question for the group.
My 00 had some issues because of a stupid owner. (me) my engine overheated which was found to be a blown head gasket. After replacing the gaskets and resembling i have a noise that sounds like a valve.
I am thinking i bent a valve so i am replacing the head. How durable are the bottom halfs of these 4.0?
Should i be concerned? There was not any coolant in the oil. And with the head off everything seems to rotate easily. Should i worry or just change the head?

It has been cared for. Burns no oil. Ran strong before the head gasket issue. 138k on the odo. The cooling system has been gone through except water pump. Its on the list.

The head gasket was done about 8 months ago but the truck has never been back on the road other than test drives. No the head was not resurfaced . Which is why i am leaning towards a replacement head.
