Hey folks! Brand new here, and I'm unsure if this is the right place to put this, but I figured it would help to get some local knowledge on the subject. (If I'm in the wrong, please let me know!)
I'm interested in joining the XJ ranks, and this will be my first time purchasing an older vehicle, so I'm in the learn as I go phase for a lot of things.
That being said, I found a local 2001 stock XJ - around 130k miles, in seemingly pristine condition. They're asking $7k for it though - seemed a little high at a glance. It would be used as my "toy" primarily, but also needs to be driven as my normal vehicle - although I drive a whopping 400 miles a month, tops.
Is that price too high for that model vehicle? The price isn't an issue, but I don't want to overpay and end up putting more money into it just to get it serviceable.
Thanks in advance everyone - hope to be a part of the crew soon.

They are lil high on the price. I know someone that bought a 01 xj stock with 65k miles for that price. And I thought he paid a lil much. And for it being a toy once you start doing mods your gonna have a lot of money in it for very little. I would try and get the price down or find one a lil cheaper that you won't be afraid of throwing money into and tearing it up. I dd mine and wheel it when I get a chance and I have 1500 in mine already and I havent done much just tires steering and lift and my lift only cost $80.

Thanks for the input everyone.
Looks like I'll keep my eyes peeled. I'm in no hurry to buy - currently driving a 2009 Dodge Ram. But as I mentioned, my driving needs have changed with a new job that allows me to telecommute. I've always wanted a jeep and figure this a good time to start the hunt.

Wow! Pretty active bunch around here. That's actually really exciting - most outdoor forums have little no to activity in the Oklahoma area.
I live in Midwest City, a few miles from Tinker AFB - but I can be seen frequenting Edmond, and make the occasional jog down to Lake Texoma to embrace my roots
I definitely am interested in a new toy - that's for sure. Initially I was looking at Wranglers, but after some consideration, figured I could get quite a bit more for my money in the Cherokee arena - and I've always been partial to the XJs.
I really appreciate the warm welcome everyone - if you see a diamond in the rough (not too rough mechanically, unless I can pay one of you guys with lots of beer to help me fix it) then let me know! $7k sounded like a lot for what I was getting, but I'd jump all over $3-$5k in a flash.

Hey guys, so I think its time to get rid of the XJ. If you're interested in a heck of a rig, see my link below and I'll let it go for $6000 firm to someone on here.
