I wouldn't be married anymore if the wife knew half the crap I did with my trucks and guns.
I drained the rear diff today and it looked worse than the front, more mud less water, thick. Also drained the transmission and it looked like Guinness. Now for the transfer case.

on another good note, got my new winch motor in today!
i'll make sure it's waterproof this time, lol
Nice. Yeah I when checked my transmission transfer case and motor were find and at proper levels. Just the two diffs were bad. But I did change it all. Chomping at the bit for my locker to get here today, but the new ujoints won't be ready until noon, and I don't have the seals. Napa and Oreilly's wanted 25 each so I ordered them (same brand National) online and got them for 8 each with free shipping.

yeah i'm prolly going to have to re-do my rearend, had everything together yesterday, took it for a ride, and still heard that howling in the rear end. wonder if it is the bearings that are goin out? all i did was drain the fluids and replace them. did you replace your bearings too? then again, you trailered your there right? cause i ended up driving all the way back home with nasty fluid in the rear

92mallcrawler still get on here? Looking for him. Moving back to Houston from Atlanta, GA and will be looking/needing a JOB! Will be available to start work around beginning around first weeks in April. I have 2yr law Enforcement degree, 2yr Criminal Justice degree, 9.5 years as an electrician in residential/commercial. Am a Ham Radio Operator, with training in small electronics/computer hardware. And I have a CDL Class A liceanse with all my endorsements. But I am am wanting a new start, something new. Something that will allow me to support my offroad habit and support my wife with a home as she can no-longer work due to a long battle with cancer.
I got the XJ back together. Gears, transfer case and transmission all sound good. There is a slight sound coming from the motor, the one thing that did not have water in it. The noise does not get louder with the revving of the engine. The engine is very smooth too. I'm really not sure if that noise was there before or not. Ill drive it a few weeks and see.
The sound is almost like a vacuum leak, but less hissing.
