Default So the 99 XJ blew its motor.

Like I said, the thing blew 2,3 and 4. I cannot find a decent priced motor and nobody seems to have one for the 99.

That being said I'm parting it out. I have a thread in part out. If any of you want/need something please PM me.

I was told no. They are different on the 1999s. Don't know what but every salvage yard and the Jeeps Unlimited guy says that the 99 is different. But that being said, I couldn't even find one of the others for a price decent enough to make it worthwhile. So, if ya'll need something, PM me. It's coming apart.

I have personally put an 01 in a 91 and a 91 in a 99.......That guy doesnt know what he is talking about. There are differences in zj and wj 4.0s. Im speaking from personal experience here. But part it if thats what you want/need to do.

Just tryin to help......

I remember a few weeks ago he was asking about locating an engine. Must have given up and going with a part out of the jeep instead of engine swap.

XJ
Cherokee and ZJ Grand Cherokee 4.0L engine blocks interchange.

2000+ TJ Wrangler and WJ Grand Cherokee 4.0L engine blocks interchange.

XJ/ZJ blocks and 2000+ TJ/WJ blocks do not interchange without significant modifications. (1997-1999 4.0L TJ Wrangler blocks will interchange in XJ/ZJ and visa-versa).

TJ/WJ 4.0L Engine blocks underwent clean sheet design changes effective in the 1999 WJ Grand and 2000 TJ Wrangler. These blocks are not interchangeable with XJ/ZJ engine blocks. The reason is motor mount bolt holes and belt driven accessory mounting bolt holes are in different locations, or not present at all, TJ/WJ vs. XJ/ZJ.
