From what I have read you need to change the Axleshaft's (obviously) Seals, carrier, and bearing's the shaft's are a different diameter so i'd imagine that would be correct.
Edit- but swapping in a whole 29 spline axle sounds way easier to me.

Yep a lot of time, I would change to disc brakes while I was at it. you can salvage parts from a zj or crown vic, you can also get a kit from Tera Flex. I have there kit on my 29 spline 8.25 and love it!

Yes you can put 29 spline shaft into a 27 housing, but you need the carrier, spider gears(locker) and shafts and bearings, the diff will need to be reset up with the carrier change. the 29 spline spider gears wont fit into the 27 spline carrier....

So you need, 29 spline
shafts
carrier
spiders w/shims
pin
bearings
then re-setup the diff. I honestly would rather do the brake line, 2 shock bolts, and 4 u bolts LOL but either will have the same outcome.

well I guess I need to pay more attention then, he is not locked then right?
if not then yes I would find a complete 29 spline and swap it out should take a hour or two.... if it goes good, but nothing ever does.
