Hey i think i have fixed my low idle problem..... and so far (finger crossed) I got rid of some of the knock/tick/noises lol
So I know it is not the best situation and comes winter I might dig into the engine to learn some new skills but it looks like flush/rotella 15w40 / engine restore / higher idle worked....
It also developed a new noise..... maybe you guys can give me some hints.... it is happening only when i press the gas pedal enough to accelerate (at any gear). It sound like a feint grinding/vibrating noise.... me thinking it is related to the transmission because I kind of feel it under my feet.... maybe motor mounts bushing shots are causing vibes....
Now back on focus and it is time to work/learn on axle shaft leak, drive shaft leak, engine mounts and most likely track down the passenger window that will not move so that Nathan stops bugging me lol
fun fun fun....(might be strange but I DO love to learn and enjoy my jeep as much on the driveway than on the road lol)

I'd check the fan shroud for wear from the fan! With blown motor mounts mine scraped the shroud causeing a "grinding/scraping" sound, but it could be a milion different things... Lol

Ha ha, an XJ will make a mechanic out of you whether your trying or not, thats for sure. I'd start with motor mounts and the tranny mount so you can rule them out and then go from there. Just keep workin out one thing at a time like you've been doing and eventually you'll get there.

Well I dusted the cob webs of the XJ today (sad I know), but the plates expired in the end of july. I figured I better get her legal since I'll BE STARTING MY NEW JOB MONDAY!!!
So I had to retink the mud flap mounts since the tailbone got in the way. I mounted them to the frame, so they hang right behind the tires!
I'll start chopping the front bumper skin tomorrow to fit the backbone, then replace the RF turn signal lens (damn waynes world)! Then its should pass inspection...

I worked for daimond rental when I was 16, & if I learned anything from that job its that the first thing you wanna do when filling someones propane tank is light your smoke BEFORE you get out there, cause the tanks say "keep away from open flame"!
The same wise man told me "don't take life to seriously, or you'll never get out alive!"
