yes take it out of the box, it's up to you about the plastic, seems to work good both ways.
plastic on or tight wrapped tin foil works too.
hmm......i dunno if there is a conversion tale to convert from beer to pepsi but i'll check. i've only used beer to measure my cook times.
well mostly cans, i did however discover that if using bottles you tend to wander around drinking and enjoying them so you forget about the pizza and burn it.
