depends on what 44 some have cast wedges and you can't really make those disappear easily. but you can make anything work on any axle just depends on how much work you wanna do.

I went with a 9" for these reasons. You can do a 35 or 40 spline kit and be set. The pinion support bearings. And the weight. My 9" is going to weigh maybe 1/3 or a 14b. And with some minor upgrades, can be just as strong. And have a lot more clearance.

i'm gonna be building a 40spl FF 9" with a 60 drop out here real soon. just gotta round up a few more parts and take a housing over for the "shave" to fit the 60 dropout.

ha holy axle war! my sterling is the best because my best friends uncles brother said so.... but really it does have more clearance then a 14bolt and 35 spline shafts stock and are also really cheap to come by, although the 14B does have a pinion support bearing and is much easier to gear. Oh yeah and my 60 has unit bearings which are much stronger then manual hubs, not to mention its got 1.75" thick shafts which is just plain badass.....
There, let the pissing match begin!
Oh and also like devin said were hittin up little moab on sunday and anyone is welcome to come watch me try and break my ****!

don't get me started on how cool my dana 30 is... it's strong because it's a high pinion. and it has tube seals so that means it's pretty much bullet proof, and the ring gear is what, like 7.2" so that's pretty beefy
