Yeah I have a 2x8" ram and was running the stock pump for about all of ten minutes. Full turn lock to lock took over a minute. Upgraded to a 1650 psi 4.5 gpm pump and it's like stock responsiveness now.

PSC 4.5" pulley, I can't remember if you need the PP2401, or the PP2411 pulley, I am sure Google could answer that pretty quick, Or if I remember while I am working on my heep tomorrow I'll check the number on mine.
From what I read online the 01 and newer WJ pump puts out ~1900PSI at 2.8GPM, while the XJ ~1450PSI at 2.0 GPM. then you add the pulley and the GPM goes up and the pressure can go up some too as the RPM of the pump is higher at all rpm's of the engine, but I think the releaf valve is just above the 1900 or at 2000 PSI ish.
Some drill out the valve on the pumps to up the GPM and pressure, or one and sacrifices the other I can't remember off hand. I did NOT do this as I figured I would run it how it is and Do it later if I felt it needed adjustment or wasn't enough. (which I don't think it needs)

Right on, running the pump kit with pulley? what did you have to do to make it fit? or does it just use the two holes and bolts right on?Originally Posted by customzj73

1650 psi and 4.5GPM is a pretty good setup. Cost just over what I paid although I didn't have to setup a remote Reservoir, but you have more flow
and I bet it feels pretty good!CF Veteran
No I'm running the stock pulley, it bolted right up on the stock location. I went with the biggest pump I could find so that I can use it if ever go full hydro, but yeah it turns like a champ!

does putting wheels with very little backspacing cause more stress on ball joints? it seems like it would

So in short wj pump stock pulley is going to be better ? Then stock pump / pulley ? Or better option for just asc pulley and stock pump ?Originally Posted by Gorillaxj

Wj pump is much better, higher psi and more gpm of flow, plus IIRC,they have built in coolersOriginally Posted by bigboystoysxj

Nice, I was wondering how it would mount, I though about it for mine but wasn't sure. Had I known that I would have gone with it.Originally Posted by customzj73

Agreed when compared tot he XJ pump. The WJ pump is made to push a hydraulic fan as well as the steering which is why it has the higher PSI and GPM, also has a bigger resivour. It doesn't have a built in cooler though.Originally Posted by customzj73

I just got a Trans cooler for towing and added it inline with the return and added a magnetic filter to keep the ram metal free.
