I don't think you hit it there would be a shinny spot where it was metal to metal contact. I goin with factory crush still, but it does look like it possible contact.

Default more woes

Okay, Junior and I went to snag some power steering pump bracket bolts a few weeks back because I was missing some. I tried to throw them on quick before work that day and none of them would thread so I set them aside thinking I would go back to them. Well my PS pump was only being held on by two bolt attached to the water pump housing. Last night one of the mounting points snapped off. I limped home with one bolt holding it on. I removed it today and found the two mounting holes on the manifold wouldn't thread because one is stripped and the other has a bolt busted off in it.
I read that a 99 intake manifold swap will give big HP gains. It would be a totally different PS pump setup and everything north of the manifold would need swapping but it sounds like the mods are otherwise minimal. What are your thoughts on this mod? Is it worth the hassle and cost? At this point I'm facing having to buy a new intake anyway.

If you do, you might want to test the clearance and get bigger bump stops. I read on the forums, guys who replace the crushed downpipe and get it dent up again offroading.

Do you have a brake to bend the metal? I heard that 3/16 is overkill and that the 1/8 is better for stiffiners. I know there was a thread about the different kinds.

Overkill is under rated. Its what I have, and the break I have access to, wont bend 3/16

Gasperooch, that looks awesome! It does seem like a lot of work too. Do you think it will be much different in parts and labor on an XJ? I'm somewhat of a shady tree mechanic, but it looks like I could accomplish this too. Definitely do a write up when you get yours done!
