Hey guys, need some advise. Been having some trouble with my XJ for awhile now. Tired of throwing money at it. Found a 95 ZJ with a V8 and only 19k on the clock and garage kept according to the ad in the Roswell paper. You all think I should try and buy it and part out the XJ?

Than get something that you have never seen how it was taken care of and turn out to be more of a nightmare. I thought the same thing when I wanted a new car. But decided it was a lot cheaper to throw 14k into my jeep than but a new car. Now she purs like a kitten and I trust her to go anywhere. Just need to fix the minor over eating problem lol.

About 2 years ago I had a local shop rebuild my 5 speed. While they were at it I had them throw a Centerforce clutch in it. I told the guy not to shave the flywheel because the Centerforce clutch assembly specified it didn't suit the clutch well to shave them. He did anyway. I got it back and had a bad wobble upon take off in it. Took it to another shop and they told me my synchronizers in the tranny needed replaced. Well my warranty on the rebuild expired 9 months following the rebuild and this was 10 months following the rebuild. I parked it for about a year in hopes to save money and buy a new AX-15 from Quadratec. Around Janurary I got to thinking that maybe the wobble was what caused the second shop to believe that it needed new synchronizers. I dissassembled my Ironman Tie Rod and Track Bar and sold them and purchased IRO OTK steering and Trackbar as I felt the wobble was due to Ironman's Trackbar design. I assembled and put a new battery in and now I can't even get it out of the driveway. It will go into gear correctly, but not move at all once in gear. It has a rough time starting to and I noticed when I push th clutch pedal in that it has a nasty sound to it. I am assuming I need to tear it down and replace the clutch and flywheel again. Unfortunately I don't have the time to do it, nor the cash to send it to another shop that charges $90 per hour in labor alone. The XJ has like 170,000 miles on the engine anyway. I was thinking of parting what I can IE: lift, steering, skids, and scrapping the rest and using the cash to buy this ZJ and start over from there.
