Hey everyone I'm working on my mj tday and got a front driveshaft question. My DS is about fully collapsed installed on level ground. Is that ideal for 5.5 lift or should it be more expanded installed? I was told that the DS is from a v8 zj

Mine has a loop of wire where the NSS would go if it were an automatic, but since its a stick and I guess they don't mind you crashing your stick the factory put in a loop of wire.

So I replaced my crank position sensor yesterday and she started right up. Tested it about 10 times and all was well. Took it around the block and she sputtered and died. Wouldn't crank again and I had to tow it back. Sounds like no spark but I figured the cps would fix that. Any ideas before I go digging

One easy thing to do is jack up the frame, so the axle goes to full drop, and see how the driveshaft reacts. Then if you have the means, you can take out the front springs and see how the driveshaft is at full compression. Or you could just flex so the driver side tire is up, that would give a similar result.
I'd be worried that the driveshaft is too collapsed, that's cutting it really close, unless 5.5" of lift is exactly at the shortest point, but even still tat sounds iffy.

I can't say from any experience, but with the normal factory 4 link short arms and some simple geometry visualizations, I'd imagine that the front driveshaft should get longer as the front springs are compressed.
