Default Colorado emissions

OK so upon moving to Colorado I found out I have to get this thing Emission tested. First off I know I am going to need a muffler. I have been running a straight pipe for some time now but I think that will be a major issue and I will Fail.... I also have a CIA ( even though in a cherokee bay there is no such thing ) and was wondering if my other than stock intake will fail. Any help would be great as there are many other Jeepsters in the Aurora Colorado Area.

Thanks for the help.

In colorado nobody really cares about emissions. They do it to gain revenue for the state. They passed my brother's old Nova with a 3" straight pipe from the header back, dump in front of the axle. no cat (yes I know its illegal, he doesn't have the car anymore) and no muffler. And that thing smoked more than some diesels.
Failing a colorado e-test is near impossible, I think.

Should just as well go get or tested. If fail then they can tell you what all failed 3 days to get it back over for another test. If more than 3 days then have to pay again for tue next one

Think again.

Emissions results (Pass/Fail) are different for every vehicle. Your brothers car passed based on the requirements for his make and model year.

Do really believe that a 70's era car will have the same low emissions requirements as a 20XX hybrid?

pretty much all of the 28+ cherokees i have owned, failed emissions. had to replace the cat on about all of them.

5 of the yotas i have owned, failed and needed o2 sensors. FAR from impossible to fail.

we dont need to get into the vw's, chevys, fords, hondas, and other junk i have owned......i think the above proves my point! EMISSIONS SUCK!

Listen to Frank. the nova also does a tail pipe test. our jeeps have to run on the dyno (82 model year and newer). the test is completly different.

I also worked at AirCareColorado while i was in college at dadc. yes i was a smog ****.

they do a visual insp. of the o2, air injection, cat. converter, other emissions components, and stick a deely bobber down in your fuel filler to make sure the hole cant fit a leaded fuel, or diesel fuel pump nozzle. then they run it on the dyno. then a final pressure test on your gas cap to make sure there are no evap leaks........thats it on an 82 and newer vehicle. they dont car about cold air, or turbos, or huge exhaust, as long as the orig emmissions components are there.

oh yeah, they also wont test any vehicle with tires over 33'', and i have even been turned down with 33's just because they actually measure 33'' and expand when on the dyno. i have stock rims and tires i throw on the back to go get emiss.

When I first got my 88, I failed emissions cause I needed a cat but then replaced it and still failed cause I put premium fuel into the tank. Once I put regular unleaded (85) into the tank, along with a new muffler and cat I finally passed with flying colors. I originally bought my rig up in Loveland where they don't have emissions which explains why mine wasn't emissions ready.

Ok So upon searching through CF I found this

http://performance-curve.com/3center...lechamber.aspx

Do you think that it would be fine to pass emissions?

As far as a cat Im going to go with a Magnaflow High flow Cat 91036.

Thoughts or input?
