Arizona

He was a bit worried about having trouble, hope he didn't jinx himself... I can't chuckle that possibility off anymore, had it happen too many times. lol

some areas of i 25 near the Las Vegas, new mexico area were shut down due to ice. This was saturday so not sure now. Santa fe and abq should be fine. I think only the mountains were hit. As far as Raton pass, that might be the worst area. They were hit with a pretty good amount, but I think you should be fine.
The Mouse has landed
Feels a bit weird being an Arizonian again... something I never thought I'd do.... but life is like that I guess. Especially after being a South Aussie for a good spell. Also good news is the Cherokee made it with fairly low level of drama... which I was pleasantly surprised. She made it nearly a thousand miles in a day and a half.
Only thing that happened was it was bitter cold the night I stopped in Santa Fe... and next morning noticed the power steering fluid was showing a little low. So I topped it off and looked for obvious signs of a leak. Couldn't really find one... so after topping it off just watched it and it seemed okay after that.. so not sure. Especially with having just replaced it before leaving for the trip. But with just a minor hiccup over 1000 miles... I'd say that's a test of a good egg with all the other work I did in the 2 months prior.

The other thing I was really surprised at was fully loaded down I averaged between 18 and 21 mpg doing 70 most the way. And on crap winter blend fuel... I was shocked. lol.
So even though it took me longer than if I was driving a new vehicle.... I made her a promise that I would take it easy the whole way... and she just had to get me here.
..... she did.... and of course by the grace of the big guy upstairs watchin' down.

I appreciate the thoughts from everyone though..... one never knows what can happen over 1000 miles in a 19 year old Jeep. Especially with Murphy watching. lol
Very true... Murphy is a complete SOB... lol.... Just got Internet setup today. And trying to get things done before starting work here soon.

(originally got it 18 yrs ago there)I had a good amount of time left on my CO plates... but I know what it can and does often mean in CO if someone gets stopped, etc. And just going on the assumption that other states do the same things.
Plus... it's dirt cheap to register vehicles in AZ compared to other states, so I figured why not just do it now.
And I even got to use my original AZ plate on the Jeep today. Not that it matters in the grand scheme of things...but kinda cool to me.

But... Things are changing as it is slowly turning blue. Won't be long until the liberals getting control of the legislature will mess this up. They have already made some recent changes to the sales tax board that are going to make a lot of folks just close their business rather than play their game. They are starting to bite the hand that feeds them, Liberalnomics DO NOT work.

I just thought it was cool because I got it when I registered my Toyota Tacoma 4x4 in AZ new back in 99... and my XJ is a 99... so it's a plate that could've been on it when new as well.
Just a little warm fuzzy car/Jeep guy thing I guess. lol.
Only certain states the plates stay with the vehicles... CO you kept them too.
I do like the inexpensive rates in AZ for vehicles. Hell we get charged enough for everything else these days as it is.
When it comes down to it.... they are all politicians.... but the "blue" side has always tended to screw the average American more. Greedy little SOB's with absolutely zero conscience, I think they'd sell their own mother if they thought that they'd get a buck out of it. I just wish there was some way to stop it. But I think the whole animal is so corrupted that it probably isn't going to be salvageable at this point.

Why is Ca's homeless rate so high? Because no one can afford to register a car to get and maintain a job. So this source of revenue is greatly harming a second source of revenue... income tax. It's one of the dumbest most unproductive things I have ever seen. And they don't learn from it at all, they just keep repeating the same mistakes over and over. Then they move to other states and do the same thing to it too.

You know vehicle registration started as voluntary and was just a record keeping courtesy in case your car was ever stolen. Az for the most part still uses this historical fact. Even though it is mandatory they don't charge much more than a reasonable fee for the bookwork and record keeping. It's fair considering the concept. But now go to Ca and it turns into their major source of tax/fee revenue through extortion.

Heck... I always road my motorcycle up to Sturgis and back every year...and the roads in the middle of nowhere BFE Wyoming were a dream compared to CO. Now Wyoming doesnt spend much on signage... but as long as you know where you're going, the roads are pretty damn good. CO needs to learn a few things.

It's highway robbery in CO too. for new and old vehicles alike. And they do nothing with the monies that they are supposed to. The roads department just sits on their collective asses all day and putzes around "repairing' minor things that didn't need to be fixed in the first place. I've lived in a lot of places my friend... and CO has absolute crap roads.... pure crap. I'd love to know who's pocket that money is going into.

That's because Co is now full of and run by people from Ca. Seriously... I watched it happen over the last couple decades. Now they are moving into Az like a plague. I just never could figure out why they don't like and want to leave one area because of policies they themselves supported. Just to implement the exact same policies and make the new area the exact same as the one they just left because they didn't like it anymore. There is absolutely no rationality to it.
It is... we called it the Californication. Could not stand the influx of that many people. The area really couldn't either. It really was like a plague. They just came in and the place was never the same. .... took over and pretty much destroyed it. Unfortunately there's no law to stop it. So the cost of living in Colorado is now what it is in CA. Thanks a lot... weasels... lol.
A better analogy might be that these people are jumping from a ship that is sinking onto a completely seaworthy vessel, only to go below and start punching holes in the bottom of the seaworthy one too. They are going to run out of seaworthy vessels to jump onto and we will all be sinking together with nowhere to go but down. They just can't grasp the concept that there is a limit to it... It's finite and not infinite, there is a threshold.
On another note... Did you bring weather down with you? Man... The jet stream dropped and that North wind is chilly this morning. lol I was curious if it is warmer for you there so far compared to what you had up north?

It's been chilly here... and was chilly before I left... so don't think it was me... lol...
And as for the analogy..... a vast majority of them are rude, inconsiderate a-holes... prior to the start of the great Cali-fornication migration CO was a very pleasant place to live. Only a few bone-heads around the Denver area... but the rest of the state it was a very friendly place to live. Now it's a complete disaster.... so it is with them bringing their crappy attitudes with them that I give you a more accurate analogy... It's like 10 pounds of crap in a 5 pound bag. Far as I'm concerned they can just take that negativity and scoot their butts right back to CA.
Now don't get me wrong. I don't want to start a flaming contest here.... now were 100% of the people from CA complete buttheads? NO.... but living in CO for as long as I did... and saw the influx from the very start... sorry to say that it's a true statement for the vast majority of them. Not sure why they grew up treating each other that way and thinking it was the right thing to do... but it's pathetic. Yep... I said that. lol

But I hear what you are saying, like I say they are starting in here too. And the worst thing is they go right after the government jobs, Like the MVD. Last time I was in the MVD I went up to the manager and asked them if they are now hiring staff who came from and worked at the DMV in Ca. He asked me "why?". I told him that coming to the MVD used to be a very positive, pleasant, helpful, courteous and productive experience, and that now I feel like I am being treated as a subhuman and have to prove I'm not a criminal and car thief every time I walk through the door just like it was in Ca. It's getting to where people are starting to feel like they are going to have to get down on their knees kiss *** and beg to get any business done and it didn't use to be like this, and shouldn't be like this, this difference was one of the reasons I moved to Az in the first place.
"It is becoming a negative hostile unproductive environment that is just going to create animosity, if you are hiring these people then STOP IT, Az doesn't need that crap, or at least make it very clear that they are not in Ca anymore and that's not how we treat citizens here!"
