Hey guys.

95 XJ, 4.0 I6, 8.25 rear, suggestions wanted.

I was originally planning to do a 3-3.5" lift with coil springs and a bastard pack. That plan has been scrapped since noticing that my leafs can't be used. they are so bad they have inverted.

I started looking into lift kits that include the leafs. Does anyone have brands/kits they recommend, or even brands/kits to stay away from?

This is one I am looking at. http://www.roughcountry.com/jeep-sus...-kit-630x.html

My '98 XJ is primarily a DD and OHV truck. I don't do rock crawling so the 3" RC lift with Add A Leaf was my choice. Two years into it I added a Smittybuilt rear bumper/tire carrier and (no surprise) the rear started to sag. I replaced the leafs with a Rubicon Express leaf packs and every thing is level now. Going with new leafs is a good idea IMO.

You'll hear lovers and haters of RC products. Personally I've had good success and would buy them again. (In fact I just replaced the upper control arms with RC units. They're beefy and well built.) It all comes down to how you're going to use your rig and how big is your budget.

Good luck with your build.

Thanks for the info. I have continued to search around and found the kit I think I will be going with. I have to save up for the kit so time is my only real slowdown. I will keep researching and might still change my mind, but I have time.

RE makes a great kit. Just keep in mind it usually nets more lift than 3.5." I was more around 4.5 when it was all said and done. You'll likely want shackle relocation boxes as well.

Depending on how long the savings portion will take, I'd go with something like this:

http://www.seriousoffroadproducts.co...-NP231J-T-case

Its almost everything you'd need in a lift (other than shackle boxes that are $100 more).

That is way more than I plan to use this XJ for.

I know along with the RE kit I will need the U-bolts for the 8.25. Kit comes with the dana 35 bolts.
I think it will also need wedges to adjust the pinion angle. Any idea what degree it will need?

I never installed degree shims nor a SYE. You'll need a track bar for sure. Go with IRO double sheer

Shim it till your pinion is pointed to the t case. That's where it will be happiest lol
