I just purchased my 1999 cherokee. Bought it for $1000 without a tranny. Put a tranny in five days ago. Three days ago I replaced my main seal and did a tune up. Two days ago I did a brake job and yesterday I purchased used tires from a wrecked vehicle with about 65% thread on them. So far I have $1900 in the truck but everything works on it now and it runs like it was brand frickin new. Next up lift kit or lockers. Having a tough time figuring which to do. I think I want ARB or E-locker first so I can be the toughest stock height jeep out there until I get next years tax refund and can get tires and lift.

Finally got my front axle seal issue fixed. There is a kit offered by Rany's Ring and Pinion in Everett, Wa. That fixes you right up after you decide to sling your 91 and older 2 piece right side axle, in the weeds. It comes complete with an inner axle seal, outer axle seal and blankoff plate to cover the hole where your vacuum disco actuator used to be. $45 and you can have one, too.
Due to my unique 91 axle housing and 95+ axle shaft setup, I was only able to utilize the inner axle seal and blankoff plate. The bigger axle shafts wouldn't fit with the provided outer axle seal. So far, the oil is staying in the diff. I will verify that the muck is staying out on the next wheeling trip.
One other thing I learned in this little search for axle seals is that the axle seals offered by Alloy USA would not work with my axle housing and axle combination. They are the pretty red annodized seals that you stuff into the ends of your axle housing. So do your homework before you drop the $65 that they cost.
My Jeep is all ready for the next 4wheeling trip.

Installed leather seats. Painted up shackel relocation kit and new 4.5 coils. Pulled the jeep into the garage waiting for it all to be installed

I finally had a chance to replace my heater core, it wasn't as bad as I thought- it was harder getting the coolant hoses off the core than anything else
.
Next up- tightening those flexplate-torque converter bolts. I still hear a rattle down there.

I drove mine to and from work cussing a lot. I'm pretty sure I've got a bad pulley because it's squealing like mad. Pretty sure it's the AC because it isn't constant but starts when I turn the AC on. Really sucks because I won't have my tools here until after the fourth of July. Crap.
