First off I finished installing my MSD 6A ignition box - see this post - https://www.cherokeeforum.com/f67/ms...3/#post2651705
Second I made some grill plugs to see if I can squeeze a few more feet out of a gallon of gas. Miles would be nice, but I will start with feet and work my way up.
I got the idea of grill plugs from another post on fuel economy where they linked to ECOMODDER.COM. I liked the ideas presented there and started making these.
Once made I'm going to use some clear window chalking to hold them in place. With eight openings in the grill I elected to leave 3 open and keep an eye on the temp gauge and maybe add 1 more if it doesn't overheat.
Each is about 4 inches by 8 inches and sanded to fit. I bent them using a heat gun and a piece of aluminum tubing and some scrap steel. I set the plastic on the tubing, weighted each end and heated until it bent.
My next project will be to add a fairing? to the liftgate. I want to extend the roof line rearward by several inches; 5 or 6, more or less. Think of the new SUVs rolling down the highways for a mental picture. It might be made out of the same plastic I have or maybe aluminum if the plastic proves too brittle. The mounts have been brewing in my head for a few days while I worked on other projects. I don't want to drill in the liftgate. I want a clamp to it so that it doesn't damage it. I've checked clearances and a clamp will work without interfering with the liftgate operation. Will update later when I'm done.

Took out my radio and started the process of putting gauges in it's place. Started off with a vacuum gauge, water temp and oil pressure coming soon!
I think it turned out pretty sweet, almost looks factory IMO.

Also if you have AC, you are blocking the condenser coil from the fresh air it needs to remove heat and reduce head discharge pressure.

No air. Just 2-50 air. And just a 4 banger that seems to run cold even with a 195 degree thermostat. Either that or my temp gauge or sender is wrong, which it could be. I have no way to check actual temp against the gauge. So far with the cool fall weather it hasn't overheated.
