Default Water in engine, the timebomb starts ticking today

I pulled my valve cover for to diagnose a noise. Then decided to paint it, well i had a bbq so I needed the XJ out of the garage. Water dripped in through the hood vents and left about a quart or so in there. I drove it inside so about 15 feet total and ran it for maybe 30 seconds. Orielly's has oil for $2 a quart so I bought 15 and some awesome fram filters. I am dropping the pan with each change to get out what doesn't drain out and to check everything inside. I think the chance of this actually working is pretty slim. So if anybody has got any advice or tips let me know.

a little water left in the pan after you chgange the oil will evaporate out and not hurt anything...

After the second oil change and dropping the pan again, I saw no evidence of water. So just got to wait it out for now.

Water causes oil to turn to sludge and seize your engine. If this hasn't happened yet then I would suggest using oil additives and cleaners to flush the engine block of any remaining sludge and hope that the block will be ok (which if it's running now then chances are it will be fine) Also if the water washed any dirt particles into the head it will act like sandpaper in the cylinders and could cause some problems down the road

Next time consider putting some sort of cover over the head while leaving it outside. A trashbag works well.
