Default warning for tahuya

So I went up to Tahuya today for the first time. I was up there looking to get my Discover Pass before I get deep in the trails. I pulled into the camp ground to find a brand new red Ford F-150 pulling up on me. Turns out the driver of the un-marked red F-150 was a cop and gave me a $203 ticket for not having that stupid pass. After getting my ticket and continuing the day, Later I found 3 more officers out handing out tickets. The lesson learned today, Buy a Discover Pass BEFORE going to Tahuya.

I've been harassed before for not having my discover pass even visible even tho I was next to my vehicle and could grab it. The laws have become ridiculous but boy do they make a killing off those "no discover pass" tickets.

Secondly, buy the pass ASAP. I know that if you contest it in court and show that you have one there is a high possibility they will cut the fine in half

Well its a "Driving W/o Discover Pass" ticket. Not a parking ticket. I'm gonna try to fight the ticket though because I was trying to buy a pass, I wasn't there but 15 minutes before I got nailed. And on top of that the cop was in civilian clothes and would not present any I.D or badge to me when I requested it. He was also yelling and swearing at me. He also made a threat that a off duty state patrol was going to "come kick my *****" I think I got a chance at getting it dropped

Honestly if a cop can't show you any ID or badge, you have a right not to accept the ticket. And the fact that he threatened you is another matter. You need to call on that ticket and confirm its authenticity. Law enforcement of ANY type is required to be in uniform or show proper identification when giving a ticket of any sort

Well here's the thing, I did not directly ask him for his badge. I asked him who he was and what department he is with. I had to ask him twice before he would answer. I was more focused on the fact that a angry guy was swearing and shouting at me and had a firearm on his hip. What got me thinking was he demanded my drivers license and that's when I asked him the first time who he was and he didn't identify himself. When he came back to demand my regestration is when I asked him for the second time to idendify himself. He replied with " ray with DNR ". That's also when he made the comment " a 245lb boxing pro who happens to be a off duty state patrol was going to come kick my *** " Keep in mind that I had 3 other people in the car who heard and seen everything.

Excuse me? As far as i know, DNR aren't a form of "LAW" enforcement. They have nothing to do with the discover pass

YOU REALLY NEED TO CHECK THE AUTHENTICITY OF THIS TICKET ASAP! The state mandated fine for NOT displaying a discover pass is only $99! I just checked it on the official Washington discover pass site

We may need to update our information guys. The cops I saw in the pit up at Walker Valley this weekend definitely had "DNR Police" written on the patches on their uniforms. I'd never heard of DNR Police before this weekend. They do exist, at least now, they do. The gold colored F-150s they were in just had a star on the door. The dirt bikes they had, had stars on the gas tanks. The ones I saw were in full blown uniform including side arms, badges, marked jackets and "Smokey the Bear" hats. the officer I talked to was very friendly and polite. I did have my disabled veterans park pass but no Discover Pass. I guess since I am a disabled veteran was why he let me off with just a warning. the guy you saw over at Tahuya sounds like a real D ick!! I bet since you have witnesses, you will get your ticket dropped. there was no reason what so ever for him to talk to you the way he did. The officers I encountered were as polite and professional looking and acting as they could be. That is the way I expect any law enforcement officer to act.

I just spoke with the HEAD guy at the DNR. Listen, this is whats up. The fine for PARKING your rig W/o a Discover Pass is $99.00. If you get caught driving on the trails without it, The fine becomes $203.00. The Department of natural resources DOES have the authority to right you the ticket. They are on patrol for the spring and they will pull you over if you don't have a pass. Oh and FYI those of you guys on bikes / quads... the DNR DOES have Bikes to patrol with and even if you think your well hidden deep in the trails, They will still get you.
