I'm in the same process right now, I just listed it as a trade or for sale, if you are not in a hurry to sell or trade. Ask a little higher amount than what the market is and work from there.
The market around Iowa is around 2000 for an xj lifted or not, I'm asking 4000 and have had people calling with trade offers that weren't worth it. But I have gotten a lot of people waiting to come see it tomorrow. I'm probably going to take anything that's close to 4000.

I'm wondering why in the hell you would trade or sell an awesome 89 Renix XJ for POS 97+. The only XJs ever made that were better than the Renix XJs were the 91-96 HO XJs. Just my .02.

Yes, 00 and 01 had a different head than previous xjs. 0331 i believe, and they are prone to cracking, factory flaw. IMO the very best xj is a 99. Best flowing intake, but had the old style head.
My next xj will be a 99.

Best year of xjs built is a opinion and really is kinda hard to really getting into cause mostly every thing swaps engine wise. and the rest is debateable

I depends on what you like. It doesnt get any better IMO then a 99xj sport(no power locks/windows) 4.0, auto, 231, d30, 8.25
Has the upgraded intake(better flow than previous)
Has 29 spline 8.25
Has more comfortable seating
Newer controls (hvac, cruise etc)
Non flawed head
Better emissions control and MPG capabilities
I just like em!! Nothing wrong with a nice late model.

I have a 97 with AX-15 4.0L H.O, I'm happy with it. Only real catastrophic thing that has happened was a broken LCA mount, and now I got some unibody damage. I'm pretty rough on this poor little Jeep at evan's creek. I guess its a matter of opinion.
