So as most of you know, I hydrolocked my jeep a few weeks ago and since then i have replaced pushrods and did a complete tune up on her. It still has low compression in 4 out of 6 cyclinders. 1, 3, 4, 6.
6 is the worst one clocking in at 80 psi lol. My engine has 260k on it so i know its super tired!
So I am going to wheel it one more time to rimrock and then pull the motor and start the rebuild/stroker process.
My question to you guys is do you know of any good sources or good stroker kits out there? If it looks to be out of my league i may just rebuild it or find an h.o. to slap in it. What do you guys think?

i am into doing some engine work on my xj to keep it running while i save up for my engine swap.
i decided to go high compression on the factory bore with a renix head & H.O manifolds and a lager TB . i'm shaving my block and head down and using a thinner head gasket. that combo with some tunning will yield around300fltbs down low around 2000rpm. high comp and small ports will build a lot of low end torque. also i went this route because i still use all factory parts and all i have changed is my clearances in my chamber and its CHEAP
. now if you wanna rev your rig out i'd say use a h.o head and if you think you'll need over 300fltbs then your after a stroker for sure.

in the june jp there is a artical 30 top tech questions, it talks about useing parts from the 4.2 and 4.0 ho to get a 4.6 - 4.7 depending on overbore. being able to retain the top end of the 4.0 while pickin up the tourque of the 4.2 . gives some food for thought.

The best deal I could find by surfing the net was an entire new stroker rotating assembly from a place called Titan Engines. You get new Kieth Black pistons, new bearings, new caps, new rods and a new stroker crank, all for $895 + shipping.
I used Titan for parts and built my own using a 258 crank & rods and I got the pistons & rings from Titan. Also a mild cam from Crane. Don't forget to put in larger injectors, they make a huge difference.
It was well worth it

Thanks for the input guys, I am going to drop in a spare 4.0 that i have from a parts jeep and pull my current 4.0 and start the rebuild soon. Going to take awhile but once its done, it will be a power house!! Stroking it to 4.7 using the 258 crank and associated parts. Probably will cost around 1500-2000 after its all said and done.
aiming for 267 hp and 312 lb of torque!
Also, I plan on getting a snorkel, so no more water filled engines for me! lol
