You will need to cut all the mounts off and weld on new ones. Lots of kits out there, I did mine last year. I used superiors super 8.8 kit w/ c clip eliminators, lots of $$$. I forget who I got the mounts from, when the fog clears ill post the company if someone else has not allready chimed in.

Not sure 31s will get you much ground clearance, and I also had to cut my tail pipe off after the muffler. The diff is offset to the passenger side and caused rubbing. If I ever sell my jeep I'm keeping the axles! The write up Tim posted has all the goods.

i did the swap not too long ago i picked up an 8.8 with 4.10, most of them had 3.73s if you have one with 3.73s its easier to go to a junk yard and pick up a zj front axel alot of them had 3.73s, if you have any question hit me up.

Zj's use coil springs in the rear, and most use disc brakes, other than that should be straight swap.

hes talking about the front axle to match the rear gears....

it would be a direct bolt in for the front axle.. and if you can get the steering parts from a V8 zj they are alot stronger and a direct bolt in from the xj stuff

the ZJ is a low pinion front axle, just FYI, but any 93-98 v8 powered ZJ will have 3.73's under them

I would regear the hp30 you have. You probably have 3.55 gears(4.0 and auto) so you can use that carrier for the 3.73 as well and just have to buy gears and install kit. The lp30 is about 20% weaker than the axle in your xj. Plus when you regear the front, it can be a good time to sneak a locker in there, money allowing. Is your 8.8 Trac loc? It lil say 3L73 on the tag if it is.

honestly if you dont do the super 88 kit on the 8.8 it is no stronger than a stock rear Dana 44
