I've spoken to a friend who's very knowledgeable about the legal system, and I can get the title back from the dmv even though they said its marked and there's no way to get it. I'll be doing that tomorrow and hopefully getting my hands on it before the end of next week. I have a few pictures that I'll post when I get home.
