Question Opinion On Pricing - What Would You Pay?

I'm considering finally selling my XJ. I was hoping to get some insight on what it's value would be considering it's condition. I understand it is worth what someone will pay for it but then again I will not let it go for book value. I'm really hoping to let this go to another enthusiast. I feel like eBay would be my best option but any advise from other members would be great so I can list locally as well.

Specs:

1995 Country
249,XXX miles

The good:

-2 owners including myself (all maintenance records from previous owner)
-Garage kept by previous owner/semi-garaged by me
-Original paint/interior/engine/etc
-No rips, tears or stains in the interior
-I have replaced almost everything that could fail (alternator, distributor, battery, starter, etc.)
-4x4 engages flawlessly
-New serpentine belt
-2" RC lift w/ RC stabilizer and RC shocks
-New catalytic converter and DynoMax cat back exhaust
-New front pads and rotors
-Upgraded to thicker battery/alternator/starter/ground wires
-Black Rock d-windows w/ 235/75/15 BFG ATs (9/32 front - 12/32 rear)
-Stock mesh wheel w/ 225/75/15 in the roof basket and Yakima spare tire mount/lock as well as the other 3 stock wheels w/ tires included
-OEM Jeep rubber mats/cargo mat and rare OEM cargo cover
-AVS window visors
-2" U-Haul hitch

The bad:

-Check engine light illuminates from on occasion (usually when it's really hot and humid outside) but it's a rarity and isn't consistent
-Rear passenger window doesn't always roll back up therefore I never use it
-A/C stopped blowing cold. I'm a "windows down" kind of guy so I never looked into it
-Headliner is fully sagging
-Compass/temp gauge no longer works
-Sometimes shakes ~50 MPH. Still can't find the reason for this after multiple alignments, rotations, wheel balancing and replacing the front sway bar bushings
-Some door dings here and there
-Small leak around the rear main seal but there is no oil on my driveway or in the garage

Super clean, high miles for someone who doesn't know any better. $3,500 or so here in NY. Can't find one that clean around here.

If you find the right buyer 25-3500 maybe, try craigslist.

Down here in NM, Id expect it to go for 2,500 or 3,000. Were in the dessert so usually the worst thing that happens is the paint fading.

Edit: Looked it up, thats about the KBB here

I'm in Atlanta and have been watching Cherokee ads for a couple of months. I posted a couple of weeks ago about my 96 Country that I bought for $1600. HOWEVER, it needs a windshield, and has some minor cosmetics that need fixing. If I saw your Cherokee, and had done my homework, I would consider $3000 a very good price and maybe up to $3300 for the right buyer. If you are looking for a nice unmolested 4wd Cherokee, they are hard to find or for sale at outrageous prices. Most that I saw on craigslist were cut up, lifted radically, or had a long list of issues. The problems you mentioned are really routine.

I would suggest craigslist as a good venue. It's free. And you can and should list in multiple cities around you. You have some great photos in your post and have given a good account of the pros and cons. This should get you good responses. I've found that the more info you provide, assuming correct English, the more sincere interest you get.

Best of luck.

Ask for a little more and put or best offer and let them talk you down so they feel like they got a deal.

Check your local craigslist stock market and adjust the price accordingly. People in Fayetteville had crap XJ's wanting ~$3000 and built ones for ~$7000. I put mine up for 5k everything kept up except AC. Ended up taking it down, too much BS and I really wanted to keep it. Was going to spend that money on another XJ anyway (still looking for a 99 limited/classic with overhead console/8.25)

Just checked my area looks like 1.5k-8.5k plus or minus combinations of mystery. No miles listed, rust holes not shown, only one pic, some with mismatched tires and leaf sag, "v6", "body lift", etc.....

Looks like what you got would be 4000 maybe OBO if you sit on it longer than you want

Most definitely. I just made a deal on a 2004 WJ without using the XJ as a trade (they would have given me peanuts for it anyhow) so now I can sit on the XJ until I get the right offer.
