lol.. so yeah, just recently picked up a 96 sport in good shape and decided i should probably find myself a good forum to join. i always find them to the best places to get info from fellow owners.
so yeah, this is her..

took her up the mountains to do some shooting and she got her first injury.. apparently that tree branch decided it wanted my corner light more than i did. lol..

couple bucks at the junkyard fixed that tho
then it was time to start making her my own.. started off by putting in a new radio. now that took a bit of work. luckily this is what i do for a living, so nbd to me

cool factor yes, but i intend on putting a camera or two on her to keep an eye on my footing when i'm playing in the woods, so it's pratical.
also decided to ditch the oem keyless nub in my headliner and use the space for something a bit more practical.. i've seen a few tutorials on getting good topo maps on this thing (which you cant do on in-dash units) so that another thing for the to-do list

i also just received my lift in the mail the other day.. not going crazy as this thing is my dd and i'd like to keep mpgs somewhat reasonable. it's just a 2" budget lift from rubicon express.. from everything i've read, these should allow me to run some 31s just fine. just need to con a couple friends into helping me install it.. the front seems easy enough, but the add-a-leaf part looks a little intimidating at first glance.
so yeah, that's where i'm at for now.. i'll keep updating this as i do more and more to her. hopefully i'll get a chance to meet some of you folks on the trails

Seriously though, I kinda want to see what I'm getting myself into when I get my lift in the next couple months.

Welcome to Cherokeeforum, Buddy. Thats a good looking 96. I just picked up a 96 XJ Country, myself. It's time to retire my tired old 91 Sport. You will want to go with at least a 3" lift if you want to run 31s and be able to flex it out on the trail. The 2" BB will be fine for 31s if you just drive it on the road. The tires will still be really close to the fenders. The 2" BB is really only good enough for 235s or maybe even 30s but, not really the right choice for 31s. You can pick up a 3" BB from a place called Fat Bob's Garage out of Ogden, UT. It's basically 3" pucks, a 3" AAL and shocks. That was the first lift we put on my son's 87 XJ and it worked pretty good with 31" Dunlop mudders.

Post up when you're going to do this. I'm only 20 minutes away and I'll come and give a hand or provide moral support by standing around and drinking beer.

lol.. just got rid of one of those in favor of something i can drive anywhere. my civic as entirely too low to be practical. having to plan routes due to bad roads and speedbumps got to be a bit of a chore. LOL
luckily my daily commute is fairly short, so i can live with it until i manage to start up another civic
here's the old spine breaker..

compared to that, this jeep rides like a caddy.. haha
