Greenwater is lower than the start of the trail and the trail climbs up and over the mountains. Chinook pass is not a bad indicator of conditions. I like to check the Crystal Mountain forecast to see what conditions are like (and I can't wait for ski season to start). It would be fun to see some xterras join us. The very beginning of the trail is one of the best parts, I doubt they would even make it to the first road crossing.

Your friend is misinformed. I am 100% sure that it is open to vehicle traffic. I have run the trail many times. It may be all tore up by atv standards but I am sure we will have no problems.

2nd the confirmation, I ran the trail lasst weekend in my jeep and saw at least 15 other offroaders on the same trail that day.
The sign at the trail head from the west side just said closed nov15-july15
may be the last run for the season on this trail?

Yupp. I'm sure we won't be the only ones there. The last weekend available to run the naches. It's going to be a bust weekend

idk if the closure was from last year or if its gonna be for this year. I beleive its standard practice to close down chinook pass through the winter and you have to get to the trail via chinook pass.

I was just looking at the weather for today and the forecast for this next week at Crystal Mountain Resort, which is just a couple miles down the road from Naches Pass Trail. Right now as I write this it is snowing lightly and 34 degrees. For the next 5 days the forecast calls for an average high of 40 degrees and an average low of 30 degrees and and average of 30% chance of precipitation. With those temperatures and that chance of precipitation, I'd say it will be snowing all week!!
