So I need some advice on a muffler. I run a stock muffler right now. I currently dont have any exhaust leaks but my muffler is original from 1997 and starting to show sign's of wear. I would like to get something that sounds a bit more aggressive without seeing a 5 MPG drop in fuel economy. I've always run 30$ cherry bomb's from auto zone but I've been advised thats not a good idea for me. What to you all suggest? Keep in mind this is a daily driver for me so I can't afford 14 - 16 average MPG when I'm getting 20 - 22 right now.
Keep away from the cherry bombs, the 4.0s dont seem to like em very much. I personally am a big fan of the Flowmaster 40 series, which is what i run on my MJ and i love the way it sounds. The magnaflow cat-backs dont sound too bad either, had one of those on my old xj, sound wasnt too overwhelming and it didnt hurt the bottom end at all.

i have a Flowmaster, love it. it sounds good, not to loud, and durable as hell. it will take way more abuse then the Magnaflow will, and if you break it or cut it open, you can always weld up the Flowmaster cause it is all steel construction.
oh yeah, it is cheaper too

I run the magnaflow with a magnaflow cat. I also upgraded the header with a pice of flex tube. Thats where my problem (leak) was. The sound isn't too loud and when you get on it she sounds nice. I haven't had any problems with it the last three years.

I have a thrusher cherry bomb. I get minimal back pressure. The muffler may not decrease mpgs but the loss of back pressure and low end does. As far as exact mpgs lost I was just estimating. The muffler is great for wheeling cause it doesn't hang up on stuff but its loud and the 4.0 doesn't like it.

I run magna flow. I like that they wont rust away like cheap muffs, cherry bombs and flowmasters. But what ever you can afford as long as you like it thats what realy matters. There are tons of 4L exhaust sounds clips. Chery bomb "other types of glass packs and tons of flowys and magnafolws. Check emm out.
