Hey guys how have you all been doing. I know I haven't posted up in awhile. I had to take a couple months off as I have been busier than a one legged man at an *** kicking contest. I am all retired out of the Navy now. It took me exactly four weeks to find another job. Working as a government contractor jet mechanic on the same base I was last stationed.
My Jeep has been badly out of commission this whole time, too. I just finished putting new upper and lower balljoints and wheel bearing hub assemblies this last weekend. Lol...it's no longer scarey to drive.
I bought an old GMC 3/4 ton 2WD drive truck to have as a trash hauler but it will make an awesome tow rig as well. It's a 78 Camper with a 454/TH400/Corp. 14 bolt. It gets about 8-10 mpg loaded or empty but the thing will haul anything a pull a house off it's foundation. It's saved me over this period my Jeep was out of commission. I don't fancy walking to work.
So I gotta ask, who is going wheeling this weekend? I would love to come down and run Evans Creek if any of you guys will be there. If I have to go alone I won't venture farther from home than Walker Valley.

Hey Bobby...Being retired is great! I already have a pretty decent goat beard going. Still feels wierd after 24 years of clean shaving...lol. So, you're moving, eh? I hope not to another duty station. What sort of school will you be going to? You probably have another deployment coming up in the near future. So any takers for Evans? If not, how about Walker?

Nah just moving off post, and deployments are harder to come by now. I could probably go somewhere after the next 2-3 weeks are over. Then no Sunday wheeling cause of football.

Branden what gives dude?!! You spand all that cash to put them full width 3/4 ton axles under your Jeep and now you say you're having the front cut down?? Must not be fitting down very many of your favorite trails anymore, eh? Definitely text me and let me knoe when your Heep is up and running again. That Walker trip I did last weekend just didn't cut it when I really want to run Evans.
Naw brian I fit down all the trails including the 197 with no problems. I'm cutting it down because evans now has a width restriction for offroad vehicles and a lot more places are going to be doing the same. And I want it to be more street legal so the popo don't mess with me lol

98Cherokeesport is right. I am the WOW Evans Creek representative and emailed the head FS guy there Bob Pacific who confirmed that there is a 72" width restriction at Evans. I don't think they are doing anything about it right now. Technically this rule has always been in effect at Evans, just not enforced. With the new Travel Management Plan being laid out across Mount Baker Snoqualmie National Forest they are going to start enfocing more width restrictions and trail closures and everyone will be required to have a map. To my knowledge no one has gotten any tickets for being too wide at Evans yet (and I have seen alot of wide vehicles up there). The only thing I have heard is that a guy was up there a couple weeks ago with a buggy and Maureen (FS volunteer) said he was technically too wide, let him know about the width restriction, and told him they were going to start enforcing it soon. Of course it is anyone's guess what "soon" means to the FS.
