I have to disagree with nothing personal.......but that statement is a contradiction, MEN don't pay tickets, "men do what is right" and charging people fines for having lights on a vehicle is criminal in my book. Men don't bend over and take a ticket......men stand up for themselves and fight for what they believe is right!
MEN run hid lights that are potentially blinding to other drivers thus putting everyone else at risk, just so that MAN can have some cool bright lights. Right? (sarcasm)
They are illegal for a reason, not just because the state or fed government thought itd be a cool idea to throw another law in the mix, but for public safety.
Put yourself in a passenger vehicle at night, like say a ford focus, and you have a jeep coming towards you that is lifted with his blue hids on. While you are momentarily blinded you hit a runner that was running on the side of the road and kill them, who would you blame it on?

I've got an opinion that will hopefully get this Thread back to the original subject. It appears to have been hijacked. It started out as a thread to debate whether a traffic citation should have been given for running a certain type of vehicle lighting. Now, it has changed over to what constitutes being a real MAN. My 2 bits is this. I do agree that a real MAN will not just bend over and take it in the shorts for everything that comes along. I also agree that a real MAN will and should fight for what he believes in. That being said, a real MAN will approach every subject that could potentially result in a fight, with a good head on his shoulders. A real MAN will only fight when fighting is the last resort. A real MAN will always try to reason through every situation and resolve it peacefully. A real MAN will always think every situation through and pick his battles wisely. In short relating to this particular situation, I don't believe a real MAN would spend his precious money and time fighting to keep equipment on his Jeep that is potentially dangerous to other driver's. We 4wheelers are having a hard enough time keeping the Tree Huggers from getting our rigs BANNED out of the woods forever. If we go fighting the law to keep equipment on our rigs that is a road safety hazard, I believe we are shooting ourselves right in the foot. What do you guys think?

Thanks Buck.
I only put the HID kit in because the headlights I had I couldn't see anything. I read, and didn't see anything about HID being illegal and bought them. I even pointed them down as to not blind people. And they don't, (partly due to fogging and mud inside the housing.)
I'm not fighting to keep them on, I'm fighting to get out of the ticket. I try and play by WA state law however it seems that because I drive a Jeep I keep getting hit with some broken law that unless you know it there you can't find.
I've paid over $3000 in tickets in 2years.
I'll change the taillights out to Red LEDs, my bad I missed the part about reflective red.
I'll even change the headlights, but I won't sit back and take another fine because I didn't go to the right website of a hundred sites and read the right RCW code hidden with in the other RCWs.

I think many people forget that just because things are sold either locally in stores or on websites and most shops will install these items without mentioning a word about being illegal and pry don't have a clue themselves. In the end it is your responsibility to know the law, remember it is not your right to drive on the road it is a privilege that can be taken away or as you seemed to have found out costly. As far as the RCW's they are officially on one site but can pry be found on many, and are broken up in sub sections to make understanding them easy.

That's the thing, my first ticket was for no seat belt, even tho I was wearing it. I only unbuckled to get my I.D.
Then DWS because I forgot the seatbelt ticket.
Just went down hill from there.
I don't speed and my this last time was the only one for equipment on the Jeep.
And don't be so quick to judge. I follow the laws, or the ones I know of.
Each state has different laws and not being from WA. Coming from a state that has less traffic laws make it difficult to know them all.

How exactly are those illegal? Because when I see my local fire dept and water rescue pull their trailers they have the same type with the clear lens. They must be breaking the law also. Why does every ambulance in the area here have clear led tail lights also, they are definitly breaking the law also. They are completely legal as long as he has ones the are dot approved. Just to finish up why do the police have led light bars with clear glass on it? Someone better go quick and write them a ticket for clear lens lights.
this thread just makes me feel even better about living in florida, where cops have better things to do than give these types of tickets. ill probably get flamed for that but o well. these are like tickets for being too low to the ground or having an exhaust thats too loud.
fwiw, i say get new taillights, that reflective tape crap emergency vehicles have is ugly as sin, legal or not.
and just cause its 5am and im bored, sorry to hear about your seatbelt ticket, another law that i completely disagree with. if someone wants to drive without a belt on, more power to them, i hope they never crash or theyll be sorry, but IMO uncle sam shouldnt be able to pull you over and write you a huge ticket for not wearing it, let stupid people weed themselves out.

. The best thing you can do is be courteous when pulled over, I've found that has helped me the best over the years.
