id like to do this but i want to build a jeep first. and also cant really weld yet.

today i fixed my welder and got to use it for the first time. took a few trys to get it tuned in, but i got it.

or hey tim you could just stick with me and my dad he just picked up one of those on board portable mig welders. it works pretty slick

Readywelder is the best. Small but can do almost all jobs

Awesome Tim, I'm just curious which option you are going to go with? Replace your alternator with a Ford one, add an additional alternator, or add batteries? Whatever route you go it will be awesome to have a welder on the trail.

Dodge Durango V8 alt. swaps straight in and it`s an 70-90amp

Wow, seriously wrong.

It is not a direct swap and the OEM XJ alternator is a 90amp.

Well my buddy has that Alt. in his? Wasn`t sure on the amps was guessing

I looked it up and I think the Durango alternator you are talking about runs at 136 amps. I am assuming it is also not internally regulated as you are planning on using it for an on-board welder.
