Hi all i have a 1996 grandcherokee 5.2L auto.
I changed the spark plugs and wires on it and i started it back up and it was missing real bad. So i thought maybe i had a wire backwards or something and i didnt but my wifes dad started messing with the firing order and now it wont start at all. It seems like it has no compression.

 

recheck the spark plugs. might have closed the gap while installing. as for the firing order just turn the motor over till you're at TDC. look at the rotor and put #1 wire there. you might check the wires make sure there ok. new don't always mean good.

 

5.2 L distributor firing order--1-8-4-3-6-5-7-2. The #1 terminal is passenger side, just in front of the distributor cap hold-down screw. Rotation is clockwise (duh.)

The front right cylinder is #1, so the driver's side bank is 1-3-5-7 and the passenger side is 2-4-6-8.

Did you install the plugs torqued to specs? Because if you did not torque them to crush the crush washer, the cylinders will leak compression. Torque to 26-30 foot pounds. (Or id you live in a metric country, 35-41 Nm.)
