Question Rear Shackle Question

I am trying to decide if I should go with stock rear shackles or get some with like a 1" lift...Is there really a need for it since I just got the 6.5" lift?

What would you guys do?

Thanks!

Was it 6.5" packs? The stock shackle won't flex like a longer one will but the extra lift is up to you

Yeah its a full spring pack.

Not to sound ignorant but what do you mean the stock shackle wont flex?

due to its short length it won't provide much droop or compression b/c it doesn't move that far. A longer one, will move further, but with your full pack, unless your squatting in the rear, the added height may be undesireable.

I'm sure though your shackle angles are probably trash at 6.5" of lift. Might want to investigate relocators. Does this truck get wheeled?

Shackle Relocators? sounds exspensive hehe.

It will get wheeled maybe once a month...and by wheeled I mean I live in Panama City, Florida so there aren't really rocks and big things to climb... Legally(recently got in/out of trouble)

Default Shackle Relocator

What are all the holes on it, are they for the angle? How do you know what the angle should be and how do I find the angle?

Thanks!

Best angle is around 45*

na, they're not. A couple of different companies make them now. As he said ^ 45* is just about perfect b/c it allows for equal compression and droop range of movement. How ever you could actually go steeper than that if you have your truck properly bump stopped in the rear. You don't want the leaf or shackle hitting the body on compression.

Not all lift kits come with equal height leaf packs. My 5.5" lift kit was suppose to have a 3.5" lift leaf pack and 1.5" lift shackle which would net 5" of lift in the rear. I opted for 4.5" leafs with a 1" lift shackle and HD Offroad Engineering's shackle relocation boxes to get around 6" of lift.

Arched leafs are also shorter eye to eye so your shackle angle will be trash. Another reason I got the SRB's, it doesn't feel like a dump truck anymore.
