Has anyone here used a double diaphragm booster from a 1995-1998 ZJ?
I have a 1995 XJ booster/mc combo on my Jeep but the booster needs replacing. My local junkyard only has ZJ, all the XJs are too old.
The ZJ uses the same m/c as the XJ, but the part numbers for the booster are different by one number. From the photos, they look the same but I can't tell for sure.

Yes thank you. I searched for hours before asking my question. No one could give a definite answer on ZJ parts. Some thought it may be the same.
Too bad I just put a new 95 m/c on the Jeep!
Cruiser are you referring to the performance of the WJ setup being better? Or the modifications necessary/fittings?

I think wJ is easier and more plentiful.
WJ versus 95 to 96 XJ booster
Actually, the WJ booster is in some ways easier than the 95 to 96 XJ.
I've done both.
XJ, you don't have to mess with the firewall. No big deal anyway.
But, you have to move the washer reservoir. And, once the original booster comes out, the bracket inside the cab moves and makes it a bear to install the new booster.
WJ you have to bend or cut the firewall lip, but don't move the washer bottle.
As an added bonus, the mounting studs of the WJ booster are a bit smaller and it's easier to get in.
Another bonus with the WJ is that it has FLEXIBLE lines from the master cylinder that make putting things together MUCH easier.
And, WJ boosters are newer and easier to find…..
I couldn't have answered your question if I hadn't removed one from a zJ last week!!

I used the spacer........no bend.....no cut............perfection.

The WJ booster is on an 88 XJ with rear discs. It performs great.
The 95 to 96 booster is on a 90 MJ with rear drums, a Dana 44. Great braking but sensitive.
XJ has prop valve guts swapped in from disc brake rear equipped ZJ.
MJ has had the "height sensing valve" removed and has an adjustable proportioning valve to the rear.

Thanks for all of the feedback.
The 95/96 XJ swap onto my 93 was easy because it required no cutting/bending of the firewall or moving of the washer reservoir since it is on the other side of the vehicle. I guess RENIX era XJs were different.
Cruiser what was different about the ZJ? It totally looked the same to me since they use the same master cylinder as the 95/96 XJ. Was it the rod length? Or perhaps the overall diameter?
