ok so i have a 95 jeep cherokee 2dr with 4.0 and 5spd tranny. it is 2wd for now not for long though. mine is a daily driver and i hate how slow it is like its ridiculously slow. starting off its got pretty good pickup through 1st and 2nd.partially 3rd but 4th and 5th are pitiful. is everybodys this slow or is mine just retarded?

my 89 comanche is identical. a complete turd in 5th, even when its revving high. sometimes i gotta drive in 4th just to go the speed limit. but 1st and 2nd have lots of torque.

yea like i dont even like passing people sometimes cause it just takes so long and its not like my acceleration is worth a damn when i need to pass. it sucks, i need more power

If you take 1st up to 30mph, and 2nd to 50mph, then 3rd on up you can accelerate pretty fast. By it's probably not good for my 1990 4.0 D35, 3.07 gears and 33" muds lol. So I rarely do it.

ha yea mine starts driving weird when i start driving bad.lol its kinda strange cause if i drive slow and steady and dont go off road or anything its the most reliable jeep ever. but as soon as i hit mud or shift to hard or fast there it goes

I almost never use 5th unless I am going to be at 55 for a decent amount of time. first is just to get rolling for me

second is to about 15 mph then third is to about 35.

but im sure he is getting the mileage of a v8. if you give something you gotta get something in return. if he had a 2.5 it would be logical.

That's what I was thinking it's a Jeep not a freaking sports car but to each there own I guess. If I want to haul a$$ I'll drive my Thunderbird, if I want to drive I will drive the Jeep, also bird is not even close to being stock

Cant be more true. The power to fuel comsumption ratio seems to be way off in these things. But I do love the torque. Mine is fast enough for me but I have 3.55 gears. That makes a difference, time for a gear swap.
