There is a tag on one of the bolts, but that's probably just a ratio tag. That Dana 60 for sale is MAMOUTH! Way too big for your jeep. Plus you'd have to regear the front axle to use it. I'm betting it's a D44 since they were used in Jeeps at one time, although I think they were used in V8 Grands. Later they went to the D44A which are aluminum case and not as strong as the actual D44. Is there a tag on the driver's door telling you where and when that Jeep was built? Send Cruiser54 a private message to see if he can shed some light on this. I doubt you can get a build sheet on a Jeep that old. You can try running your VIN thru a couple of websites.

Okay, after looking at parts sites, there are 3 rear axles that were/are used in Cherokees, D35, D44, and Chrysler 8.25. SO...obviously you must have a D44. I think....as near as I can tell.....

one is close to my place, but it has ABS.
