Yet another lift question
I promise I have searched around and seemed to get a lot of info, but just wanted some opinions.
It seems everyone agrees that full leafs are much better than the add a leaf. I have an 89 XJ with 100k on it. Looking to lift and was looking at getting this

Im really not going to be doing a whole lot of offroading, so my question is can I get away with the add a leaf? The $250 price tag is looking much better than the 500 at this time lol. Do I have other options to maybe keep the price down or is that basically what im looking at?

Depends on the condition of your springs. If you're pretty close to flat you'll be close to flat again in a couple months. Replace the springs if they're bad, but otherwise get a long AAL like the one in that kit, it'll help you out as much as a worn out leaf pack can be helped out.

Yeah, an AAL can help, but it's a temporary fix. Your 89 sounds like it has some super-low miles, but 20 years will weigh heavy on that steel. Keep looking around though, that's a good kit but there are others out there that might be a bit cheaper for the same quality.

Yea I got lucky I actually got given the jeep for free as crazy as it sounds lol. It was a brothers friends fathers so he was in his 70s and they didnt want to deal with selling it I guess. So he just handed over the keys.

You could always go for the AAL for now, they will hold up enough if your not 4wheeling all the time. You can save some money for full packs down the road that way, or do bastard packs or w.e.
Biggest thing I realized about lifting is that you have to try to imagine ahead of time what you're going to want to do with your jeep in the future. I was in such a rush to just get my xj lifted that 6 months after buying a 3" AAL type kit, I wanted to go a little higher, wheel more, and have no money now. Plan ahead haha.
Good luck.
