So I bought a sunpro temp gauge from autozone and I'm not quite sure how I should install it. It comes with the sensor and adapters, but no t-fitting. It says specifically not to use one due to fluid not circulating right by the fitting, therefore leading to inaccurate readings. I don't see it being that noticeable of a difference. Where do they expect me to put the damn sensor, is there a capped off point for one on the aw4? Any suggestions would be helpful, thanks.

You use screw the sensor into where the stock temp sensor is in the rear of the head. then wire it all up to your ignition. But i could never figure out why the back light only worked on when i turn the key back to accessories but fade out when turned forward

The sensor threads on the back of the head are to small. You can use one of the cap offs on the side of the engine block driverside as far as I know thats about it. I have the same gauge you bought and I have it running off a thermostat housing I got off a later model that had a sensor in it.
Mounting the gauge I put it in that blank spot between the radio and clusters.

Oh you have a 99.
wait why is the trans temp gauge on the back of the engine head? Sounds counterintuitive
edit: i put mine in the rear of the head and it work great, but not really accurate. Why are you using an aftermarket gauge? I ran mine for awhile as a patch till i fixed my broken stock gauge

Thansmission temp gauge. Xmsn=transmission. I work on helicopters, that's how we abbreviate it. Sorry. Still wondering if installing a t fitting is my only option?

I don't think there are any provisions on a AW4 for a temp sensor.
Now I'm thinking if this was ME doing this I would find a way to mount the sensor on a return line or fab up a plug so it could screw into the tranny pan.

No, no, no, u do not want the sensor in the return line or the tranny pan.......that's where the cool fluid is. Install a brass "T" in the metal tranny fluid line that exits the tranny, that's the hot fluid. Install the sensor down so the hot fluid circulates over the tip of the sensor.
