Default xj randomly dies...

1996 xj sport 4.0 and 5 speed. Anytime the weather is warm and the temp guage aproaches 210 it will randomly die. After sitting 15-20 minutes it will start and run again. Always cranks over. Any suggestions?

Sounds like an upstream O2 sensor. When you reach normal operating temp your O2 takes over your fuel management control.

Is the Upstream back by the converter? The converter was stolen from this thing right before I bought it and they put a pipe in it's place.

That would be the downstream. The upstream is on the header pipe by the bottom of the engine

When you are on the highway you are using more gas and the sensor is no longer causing it to run rich

It could be the PCV valve on the back of your valve cover but this seems to be more of a O2 problem since it happens at normal operating temp.
