Default XJ Help SOS!

I come from a Jeep loving family and I just bought my first Jeep. It's a 1994 Jeep Cherokee Sport 4.0 liter inline6. I have been shopping around looking for parts because I really want to trail ride. But I'm not sure what I need. I'm 17 gonna be 18 and my income isn't a gold mine. I have two uncles that are mechanics and can install or repair anything. Not to mention a list of friends who are mechanics. This Jeep is my everyday driving car and I depend on it everyday. I want to start trail riding on the side, here's my problems.

I want to lift it 3inchs with a Rough Country lift kit. I'm not sure which lift kit i need to buy because this is also my everyday driving car. The site has a entry level and level two kit. Not sure which one I should get. I have had a lot of information thrown at me. Can someone tell me what lift kit to buy and what additional items I need. I'm on a budget.

Next questions is what tires are best for my car. I just bought a set of 15in Jeep rims. Right now they are wraped in 235.75.R15 mohave Radial all season tires. I want to replace the mohaves with BfGoodrich all terrains. What size tires do I need.

If you can make a list of things I need to make my Jeep offroad ready and still maintain performance on the pavement I'd really appreciate it.

Someone please help me .

with a 3 inch lift, I'd recommend adding 1-2" spring spacers to the lift for the front. I'd run 31X10.50 15's

I'd definitely plan on 31x10.50's, and I'd also buy a mud tire instead of those bfg a/t's, those things will get you stuck quicker in mud than a drag slick would, lol. I'd check out the bfg km2 mud terrains, they're a bit more expensive, but will get you MUCH better traction through anything you may encounter on the trails. Something else to consider is going to Treadwright tires, they're retreads, and you can buy 31x10.50 mud tires for about $80-90/each, and I've heard nothing but rave reviews of their tires, that would save you some money to throw something else on your new xj, bumpers, gears, a hi lift jack, etc. Have fun! And welcome to the forum

i have that 3" stage two rough country kit. i had to buy an adjustable track bar to go with it and the rubber brake lines for a wrangler. that is all i added to mine but i had 2" spacers in the front and shackles in the back prior so i actually am 5" up. with the 3" i imagine you could get away without the lines for a little bit but i would get them pretty quickly.

other things you might add later on is a longer pitman arm (i think is the one, maybe its an idler arm). i have 31" goodyear muds on mine and it is so nice

Not to be argumentative but, I've NEVER had problems driving my 4x4's on snow with mud tires, I HIGHLY prefer a mud tire for snow actually, but everyone's welcome to their own opinion

So correct me if I'm wrong. I should get 1-2" spacers in the front. The 3inch lift kit and 31.10.50R15 treadwrights (which will fit on my 15in stock rims). I also need a adjustable track bar.

Or I need the treadwrights, breaklines, and lift kit?

Also, if you start going much above 3 inches, like dominos, you have to start replacing stuff.

Example... a transfer lowering kit, longer brake lines, etc.
