Also the 97 Cherokee has a 5speed and the 89 is an auto. I know the donor jeep it used to be my daily driver untill the auto tranny died and i believe it can keep up with the HO motors all day my friends used to call that jeep " Tilly" cause it's a roto tiller.

Well prob. Solved i just got a line on a 1996 HO motor to put in instead of the one out of my 1989. I think that will work much better.

I am curious as to why you aren't using your 89 engine. It will work as a longblock or shortblock. Is the thought of pulling both engines a bit much for you?
