XJ Dash Lights Mod
Used Blue 12vDc 2800mcd 20ma leds
it is looks a lot brighter because of the not black gauges, I also sprayed the back of the gauge cover white and also used the 3M reflective spray, hopping to reflect some light back. It seemed to help.

I would love to but I am the last adult on the planet without a smart phone or digital camera.
They really don't look any different than the pics already posted. The only caveat to an LED conversion is the lack of brightness adjustability. So I'd reccomend that if you don't like bright dash lights don't buy bright LEDs.
Other than that it's an easy swap.

Cool, and all the LED bulbs just plug right in to the stock connectors? (dunno if any if that changed between '95 and '01 though) Do you know if they make a dark or dim green bulb? I would like to use something to match the rest of my XJ, green with tan interior, and look close to stock, but brighter with a bit more color.
I can confirm bulbs only for the 97-01 cherokees
5-#74's for the dash
2- #194's for the transfer case, and 4wd transfer case.
4 or 5? (depending on if you have a stock fog lamp switch) - Neowedge B (10mm) for the switches and HVAC (thank you LYKOS)
I also ordered 2-12led bulbs #1156 for the kicker panels. Might be overkill but a pair cost me $1.99+free ship off of ebay, So im not going to lose sleep if I dont like them.
LYKOS, do you know if my count for the HVAC/Switch lights are correct? The v-leds site has there T4 bulbs listed at 9.5 mm. So I might go to autoillumination as you suggested just to be sure.
Cool! Same deck as me too! There's a million colors you can set it to, 3 of which make the colors change haha so sweet. So the orange still stands out? And did all the bulbs you bought work even though some other guy listed those neos as the correct ones?

Yeah I Am loving the deck. Installed it over the weekend along with 4-5.25" JL speakers. Ran New wiring to the doors and a usb cord from the head unit to the center compartment. Sounds awesome even with bluetooth connectivity. Wish I had Checked the LED size on the door lights!!!
And yeah I run 2 12" subs to an amp to the deck and it's so boss. Sounds incredible. Improved my stock speakers too so I don't have to buy new ones.
Great posts guys, this looks great.
An FYI on the colors and night vision, not that it really matters but red/orange lights are easier on your eyes at night than blue. Red wavelengths have less of an affect on your ability to see at night. With blue colors, your eyes take longer to adjust to the information coming in. It seems counter intuitive but it's true. I work in lighting btw.
Although it contradicts what I posted I think I'll take a stab at the blue leds this week. The color combo reminds me of the VW dashes which look great.

you know i did read that somewhere but i was really set on blue. However I did buy the single led bulbs instead of the the 3-led bulbs they sell. Figured it might be better to have them a tad on the dim side (they are still bright though) Also i noticed that since I swapped the instrument panel bulbs, my transfer case bulbs didnt dim like they did when I first installed them. i have read mixed messages on the subject of dimming and thought I got lucky when the transfer case did originally dim. Oh Well.

I know ya'll have asked me a couple questions that I haven't answered. Sorry about that.
Yes, there are 2 neowedge bulbs in the HVAC controls and one in each switch. The autolumination site calls em 10mm. If VLED calls them 9.5 MM I'd guess they are pretty much the same. Don't hold me to that though.
I've had the superbrights before. I had 21 gauges in my Peterbilt and all of them had superbright leds in them. I had no issues.
As far as blue vs red vs whatever. The Pete's ldash was all blue. As soon as I put them all in I thought I had made a mistake. The gauges didnt look right. Within an hour I was dialed in and had trained my eyes to see them just as easily as I had the white light. It's all in what you get used to.
