yeah down the road i was thinkin 4 link but right now I have a 6 inch skyjacker full spring lift sitting in my garage for it.

 

believe it or not though is matches up quite nicely. wheel well to wheel well and frame width.

 

It seems when placing a cherokee body on a frame, it's an automatic 5-6" lift so there's no suspension lift actually needed to run large tires. The cherokee's underbody isn't sunk like the wranglers so it sits very high on frames and the frames are highly visible. With that 6" skyjacker lift, you are looking at 10-12" of lift total. What size tires?

 

44 inch either tsl's or boggers is what I'm planning but I can almost fit a set of 42's as it sits without the lift. so i figure it will give me good enough tire clearance for full turn and maybe a little flex(not that it will be able to flex much). I have a D60 kingpin thats going in soon with a matching 14bolt rear too. so there shouldn't be much breaking with the big tires.

 

I am suprised the wheel wells matched up so well. If I happened across a blazer frame I would just plop a truck cab on it and a flat bed, hack the fenders and go. More or less what I would like to do for a 4x4 project.. (not any time soon ) I have seen a few trucks with truck cabs and super short beds mounted on blazer frames.

I had actually posted about this awhile back. I got some BS for it, but no flamers, this is CF, afterall!! I would like to see your progress on this, as it is something that I have wanted to do for some time now. One thing I would consider, that would make it look a lot better, no offence, is try to cut off the frame rails of the XJ so it will sit down on the frame closer. That is the big turn off for me on these conversions. If it fit down closer and the contours of the unibody and the frame match up, it could look like it came from the factory like that!! I don't like it to look like an XJ was put on a frame. I'd be curious to see if that would be a closer "cleaner" fit. I don't know if this is something that you have considered or not, and quite frankly, it's not my Jeep. I'm simply making suggestions, if you don't agree with them disregard them, most importantly, have FUN!! Good luck!! Later!!

 

or you could build the xj frame to be plenty strong to withstand what you throw at it and not have a crazy high cog along with a frame that hangs a foot below the body, and have to do silly radiator reloactions and the such.

it will still look like a vehicle too, not some cobbled together "thing"

 

I agree with you guys but like i said before it was so rotted it wasn't worth doing what yall said. except for the removal of the subframe to keep the body lower on the blazer. Lets put it this way with the exception of the d60 and 14 bolt sitting in my garage waiting to go under this, I have no put a penny into the project. I just sold the drivetrain and lift i had in the cherokee and it funded this all. So a free big cherokee that is only gonna be dunked in the mud.

 

here is an update takein with my phone last night. note I didnt clean it before i started this project... also notice the pipe on the ground for my remote radiator setup which should be done this weekend.

 

Yea i noticed that about wranglers, common on lots of pick ups too you see like 4 or 5 inches of rusty frame hangin below i just hate that idk why, one reason i love my cherokee all you see is skidplates!

it will fit out, the roof rack rubs a little bit though. I have to put the lift on at my buddys house becuase he has 12 foot doors. lol i guess i gotta build a bigger garage now huh?

 

Air down the tires, if it's rubbing.

 

It's a Jeep, no garage needed. They like to be out in the weather.
