Default Third brake light ZJ/WJ to XJ?

Will the third brake light from a ZJ or a WJ fit on my 01 XJ (without any modifications)? It seems like it might.....

Default 99 Limited Knock

Ive got a question on my 99 limited, at idle when its warmed up and at operating tempriture it sounds like its got a rod knock but when im driving i hear nothing at all, i also hear alittle but of valve tick but i figured thats normal with something that has 124,569 miles on it, but the knock is concerning me and my oil pressure gauge is pinned past 80psi, anyone have any idea what the problem might be? For the oil pressure i figured its just a sensor but the knock is what is concerning me

I used the search function and looked at the first 200 posts to show for "reverse" and found no answer.

Sometimes it goes into reverse just fine, other times it won't go until I hold in the clutch and work it through all the gears, letting the clutch out a little for each gear to reposition the gear teeth. The shifter doesn't have slop and it works fine when it works.

Any ideas?
both manual transmission vehicles i have owned does this, there is no problem with your clutch, transmission or anything like that, they just seem to do this from time to time. try releasing the clutch and pressing it in again, it may grind a little but it will go in. There's nothing to worry about.

OH and on a side note, your jeep will not let you shift to reverse if the jeep is rolling....not sure why hope this helps

Factory hood vents are great but you can also use front grills and they are easier to find. I used the grill vents out of a Grand Am.

Please PM me the answer. Ok, i have a question, i have a 99 xj with a 4" lift and 31" street tires. my parents gave it to me for my first car and i am going to upgrade. but it is my daily driver and i drive it a lot. the one thing is that it very noisy. you cant hear the person in the passenger seat when you hit 70mph, and the steering wheel shakes, the body feels very flimsy, and it pulls to the left a lot. i was wondering if this was normal or does my lift need an upgrade ( all of the bushings are pretty much done) thanks

The area that it is in is on the passenger side routed in front of the battery, close to the lower part of the radiator. I took out the radio to look at the climate control unit but could'nt see anything wrong. The vacuum things wth the levers all seem to be holding (I could move them but they would move back). But when trying to change the mode to other settings, nothing happens. Any suggestions? All feedback is greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!
My wife's having the same issue with her 94 grand and it does seem to be an issue with the vacume system. It's also affecting the full time/part time selection in the TC.

On my old 93 XJ, I'm now having issues with the TC releasing as well. I mention this as this all seems to be vacume related with the elbow you found:

That elbow should attach to a canister located inside the front bumper. On the Renix (87-89), the canister has a large number of lines coming out of it, but on the 93 (and I assume your 94), it has only one line connected at the end through that elbow, and it just presses on.

I've been told that these can crack really easy too, especially as they are bolted to the bumper if I remember right. Most of your stuff will still work with it removed and capped off, but I believe it is kind of a vacume tank that helps give a little boost when you operate something that uses a lot of vacume (otherwise it would have to be provided by the intake and throw off the air/fuel ratio, making your power surge fluctuate).

Inspecting for cracks and reconnecting the tank is a start, but as with my wife's jeep, it may only be part of the reason for the sticking. My daily driver loses the mixer when lugging up hill or other large amounts of power and it's tank is good (TB wide open="vacume leak" lol), so it may be dirty or rusty or something, it's old, after all! On her jeep, I can't find the equivilant canister as such to see if it's cracked, but on hers if I poke a screwdriver to push the baffle open for vent it'll hold open until you turn it off or select floor or defrost.

If your canister is good and you reconnect it without it fixing the problem, you may have to tear into your dash (a royal pain, as I believe you have to remove the whole console, not just the radio bezel and selector controls) and replace the actuator. THe only other thing I can think of is that the vacume does go through the selector switch and is only plugged into the back of it, so there could be a leak there. (multi-colored bundle of wire-looking plastic vacume lines)

Hope this helps!

Among the others mentioned so far, the 280Z was well known for it's hood vents, and if you are looking at the vents to use on an XJ, here's a site that addresses that and more:

http://go.jeep-xj.info/HowtoBonnet260ZVents.htm

(Ok, so I see that they are using 260Z vents, but it's roughly the same idea, just easier )

Thanks guys, I'll have to get to the salvage yard this weekend. Hopefully that vacuum canister is all it needs.
