Well your rear one should always be standard. The front one is a high pinion reverse cut from '84 to '99, *usually*. The '00 and '01 uses a low pinion standard cut due the exhaust downpipe and some other bull.

thanks for the links. very good info now i guess the next question since all of the links were showing that swap onto a wrangler. do the motor mounts line up with the 4.0? did the google search and there was not much luck there a few people on other forums asking and a few people telling them its not possible. i would be almost certain that the bellhousings are the same just not realy sure on the motor mounts. thanks again for the help it is greatly appreciated.

Anyone know if there's a way to upgrade the axle shafts in a Dana 30 with CAD to beefier 2-piece shafts? I don't really want to get rid of the CAD system entirely because I like having it act like hubs, but I do want some strong shafts to accommodate bigger tires. Anyone heard or know of such a thing?

Thanks. But my front doesn't look like it is high pinion, but I will take another look at it when I get a chance. If it is not a high pinion, that makes it standard. Right????

Yes. It probably is a low pinion because like I said before, the 2000 & 2001 model XJ's use a low pinion, standard cut.

It's very obvious which one you have. The LP is flat on the bottom back to the yoke
LP Left, HP right
