Do not buy CAN Bus bulbs for an XJ. The size may be right, but not that bulb

Edit: I will rephrase. There's no reason to spend the extra money on CAN bus bulbs when regular LEDs work equally well

They cost more, and they have resistors built in for compatibility with the electrical systems in new vehicles.

Does anyone know how dirt can get in a radiator?? I drove down some trails that were a little muddy about a week ago and when I checked my radiator fluid today I saw it had turned brown. But the liquid in the overflow reservoirs was still clean. I flushed out the radiator a few time and found dirt in the coolant. Any ideas would help. Thanks

maybe it had too much of water in it and caused some rust?

Yeah that's not "dirt", that's rust from your radiator and block. Time for a flush!

There's a few write ups on how to do it. Mine didn't come with originally. You just need to tap into a wire at one of the pcm plug and when you ground the wire, it kicks the rpms up to 1050ish. The police and fire fighting xj's came with it from factory.

I have to pump the brakes or slam the pedal a couple times to get them to work properly. After that they work good for a couple miles, then, back to square 1. Can't find any leaks, new pads in front, rear is good and adjusted, new MC, Booster is working. All 4 corners have been bled as well as the (bench bled) MC. The brakes feel weak like if a trailer was pushing the jeep.

According to my parts guy, master cylinders and calipers have about a 50% return rate due to improper remanufacture. Sounds like my F150 right before the MC failed and left me rolling into an intersection

As much as the MC sounds like the culprit, it was supposed to be a Brand New unit, and not reman. But who knows. What makes me think that its not the MC is that the new one made no difference over the old one after being put in. That's why I'm really puzzled. Only thing that I could think of is proportion valve. Can those things actually fail?

Is your ABS equipt?

My 97 was. When I bought it, the rear hard line was leaking along with a wheel cylinder. I swapped out for new parts, even redid the front calipers pads, ect. Had a strong feeling the MC had ran dry before so also bench bled that. Hooked everything back up, still had no brakes. (Rather very little)...long story short I ditched the ABS completely. Brakes worked fantastic after that. If that pump gets air in it, its pretty much junk, unless you want to pay the 700$ bill to have it bled. not saying that the problem, just saying if it went dry at any point...very well could be a culprit.

No, I don't have ABS. Its been like this since I bought it which was 3 years ago. I know xj's don't have the best brakes to begin with but other xjs that I drove braked much better than this one.
