Maybe need to change spark plugs? What's some good ones to go with...I should prolly change em anyhow....

 

I think I'm hearing some grinding in the rear. I jus recently got my right rear wheel bearing n seal replaced. My buddy was riding with me n I asked him if he heard it n he first thought it was a window cracked or something so thats the kinda noise it is n it isn't a cracked window any ideas wat it could b???

On another note, I changed my spark plugs and wires today and noticed I have oil slowly leaking from my oil cap. I've read this could be a PVC valve issue. I'm going to check my hoses for pinches and my air filter (even though I just changed it recently and didn't find any traces of oil), anything else I should look for?

I've never come across this issue but when you say slowly do you see fresh oil or traces of dried oil. Oil sometimes comes out the what the heck it's called from pressure sometimes.

 

I checked my oil level earlier today to see if I was burning oil from my previous concern and while I was under the hood I cleaned the valve cover from oil and pollen. Later in the day when I went to change the plugs and wires the oil was back. Are you thinking of blow by?

 

Has anyone else experienced this??????? Done the search's and all that. Temps still going up. Here is where i stand.


Rig runs fine at idle/low speeds. Doesn't warm up till I hit hwy speeds.

1. Temps climbing to the brink of red if allowed when at hwy speeds.
2. Runs fine in cool weather and at idle/lower speeds. Will do that all day no prob. Won't even hit 210* sitting there.
3. Again - doesn't get hot until greater speeds/demand on system.
4. Flushed with hose, no actual flush mat'l, new tstat, new rad cap.
5. Washed off radiator w/ pressure washer at car wash.

I seriously doubt it's the fan. It works. Comes on around 220*. I'm even pretty sure i heard it kick up some today (increase speed). The water pump is pumping or it would just get hot and stay there. I'm leaning towards radiator being just nasty. Seems like when demand is called for/heavier, system is unable to cool it. Radiator would mos def cause this. When we flushed it, it WAS dirty. Or, could it be coolant sensor?

Dunno what to do? Prob will replace radiator, water pump, fan clutch, and coolant sensors for both fan and guage to be safe.

Or do i just start with sensors first.

Could a sensor do ALL OF THIS TO MEEEEE?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!

I'm having what might be a serious problem.. This could be impossible to diagnose with just my poor description of what's happening but I'll try anyway.

For the last two weeks (and no "two weeks" does not mean 6 months) I've noticed a chattering sound coming from the engine. I can hear it when I'm idling and when I'm driving pretty slow. It seems to be consistent and acceleration or nothing that I can do seems to effect the frequency of the chatter, loudness, etc. I popped the engine finally the other day and noticed the crank shaft pulley seems to be wobbly while the jeep is running. Could these be linked in any way?? Does anyone have any more insight? Thank you!

Boomroasted, Is the engine throwing any codes? Off chance noise could be from the flex plate, try checking loose bolts and cracks. Is the pully loose? If your ideling and have the hood open can you tell where about the engine the noise is comeing from?

 

Nope there is no check engine light, assuming the bulb works. I've never seen it since I bought the jeep eight months ago. Where exactly is the flex plate? And it tightening the pulley something easy to do? I really haven't looked over it that closely. And the sound seems to be coming from the front/bottom of the engine.

Also, I just remembered this and it could possibly be related.. If I'm driving through an area with my windows down with objects and buildings close to the road I can hear a high pitched jingling noise when I'm riding on bumpy asphalt like something is definitely loose.

Start by taking the fan belt off and check the pullys. If there loose you can tighten them. Also while the belt is off, turn the different pullys by hand to check for grinding/binding.

The flex plate is where the engine connects to the trans. There is an inspection plate, remove the plate and you can veiw the flex plate( you'll want a flashlight for this) your looking for hair line cracks around the bolt holes, also for loose bolts.

 

On the center console,
I've heard here it'll fit but "adjustments" need to be made for the E brake lever.

I don't believe the motor is directly grounded to the body. Should I ruin a dedicated ground wire from the engine to the chassis?? Well this help with alternator noise in the cb?
