Where are the wheel speed sensors on a 98 XJ 4x4?

 

Tcase drivers side midway up 3/4 of the way to the front

 

Is there only one or two?

 

Need some help removing the head.

All the deep well sockects wont fit over the head bolts studs that stick up on the right hand side... any idea's?

 

Wheel Speed Sensors for ABS are located immediately beside the brakes on all 4 wheels. On the rear axle I believe you have to pop off the drum to access them.

If you mean the Vehicle Speed Sensor for the speedometer, that's on the transfer case output.

 

I dont have ABS so I guess the error im getting is from my transfer case. Second question.. what kinda symptons would I have if I have a vaccum leak? My idle is crap and I dont have much power. If it is a leak.. is there an easier way to locate it other than turning the car on and touching everything? It sounds like its coming somewhere by my carb..... :/

 

lol you don't have a carb. "Bad idle and no power" could be anything from a roasted head to old spark plugs or a clogged air filter. I take it you hear the whistle of a vacuum leak? The FSM method is to dribble water near a suspected vacuum leak while the engine is running and listen for the idle to take a hit. Another popular way is to spray small amounts of carb cleaner on suspect areas, when the engine sucks it up you'll hear the difference. Of course this method is slightly flammable. If you're a smoker, turn the engine off, remove the intake hose from the air cleaner, and just blow smoke into the hose. Fix where smoke comes out.

 

Whatever that carb looking thing is..... wheres the ex gf that smoked like a chimney when you need her??

first off, unless i missed it, what it the year of your xj. Second. please elaborate by lose of power. Do you have to mash the gas pedal down. Do you do regular oil changes. ever did seafoam. want to get some background from ya

 

Whats Cheapest bed liner you would recommend using? Also don't want it to stain to bad.

 

98 xj.. I do regular oil changes.. yes ive use seafoam.. oil from dip looks good... oil on oil cap is muddy. Stopped driving it after i realized im losing my radiator fluid. Thought it was plugs, wires, cap, rotor, timing chain kit...... oil on timing cover was slightly muddy as well. Might have to put her down. Unless someone has a spare 4.o and can swap motors with me.

 

Probably the stupidest question I will ever ask. I've been doing a bunch of maintenance on the 98 Cherokee I just bought, however, I cannot figure out how to fold or remove the rear seats! It seems like it is stuck in the middle, I thought these things just slid up and out of the way or folded forward?

 

Does it have this lever? Thats howni fold mine down...
