Default oil pressure gauge

well... I have a small oil leak :-( I rescently got an oil change, and run full royal purple, and for now, ever once and awhile I throw some oil in there when my oil pressure gets low. I did this rescently, and mid drive, while driving at normal operating temperature, my oil pressure spiked up to 80 and stayed there for awhile... and went back to normal. (it normally runs between 40-70psi depending on throttle... this is normal right) anyways, I drove yesterday, and this time, my oil pressure gauge spiked all the way past the 80 to the max out pin at the end of the needles movement... I am sure my oil pressure was not that high, the vehicle was running normally, at operating temperature, with no noticable differences... and I feel like if I was running the 160 some odd psi it was indicating it would have been an oil grenade... so I am thinking my gauge is just a bit funky. Does anyone have any advice for finding grounds or something like that?

X2. I have an H4 conversion on the MJ, but I run Silverstars on the Camaro everywhere I can. Lows, highs, and fogs are all Sylvania lights. I buy the highest level light available for the application, and I've always been satisfied.

Could lower control arms simply be made by some 1x(2-3") rectangle tubing and some stock rubber bushings?

Is say they could, but those dimensions are off, and why would you want to?

You can make them pretty cheaply. I plan on making some adjustable lower arms for mine, just because i can make them for soooo much cheaper than i can buy them. If you're going to make them, i wouldnt use stock rubber bushings on both ends. Just use a stock bushing on one end.

Default First XJ (Suggestions)

I have always loved XJ's. Ever since I can remember I have wanted one. Now I am about to get my license and need some suggestions to help me out. I know (For the most part) what I want. I want a black 1998-01 XJ (I need help with trim), with a 4.5 inch lift from rough country. I also want some smoked taillights, instead of the stock ones. I wold like a new-ish radio in my XJ too. If that is possible without ruining the duct work in it. Really I have thought about this non-stop for the past months. Can someone help me?

Get a'98/99 to avoid the distributerless ignition and weak head of the '00/01. I've never seen anyone need duct work for a radio in an XJ. And you should look at Zone Offroad to avoid some RC problems. If you can afford it, Rubicon Express beats both of them.

Ok Thanks. I was talking about the ducts right above the air conditioning controls. Like if you wanted to install a Kenwood 2-Din navigation receiver you would need to cut some of the duct work. I don't know if it is worth the hassle or not.

I think you'd need to trim, but I'm not sure. I saw a writeup a few months ago where someone installed an iPad there. If you can find that, I'm sure you'll find your answer.

I know I seem someone made a double din dash piece out of a kit for a Silverado I'm pretty sure he fabs and sells them. Leaves all duct work in place as far as I know.

Won't need to trim the duct, the bezel that goes around all that junk will need some massaging though.

I would SERIOUSLY recommend you wait a good 6-12 months of driving before you lift it. A lifted vehicle (especially 4.5") is NOT something I would suggest as a first vehicle for a new driver. Get some experience learning the ways of the road and how the jeep reacts first, then lift it.

Less chance of you ending up upside down in a ditch somewhere that way.

Question Coolant/Heating Issues

Background: 96XJ Country I6 4.0 with about 147K on the odo. I've had nothing but great things from my Jeep with the exception of the cooling system. Today I was sitting in the drive thru while idling and the temp started to climb. Nearly reached the red when I finally got through. I parked and cut off the engine and noticed the steam from the hood. Antifreeze all over the ground just pouring out from around the passenger front tire. Just for the record this isn't the first and I feel like it won't be the last time this happens. I have replaced the water pump and the drive belt. Also I have changed the thermostat. I'm sure I've replaced the upper radiator hose and the idle tensioner last year. I'm started to get aggravated by this coolant spew ever so often. I'm wondering if I have a leak in a line somewhere, yet I'm not sure why it keeps overheating. It has always had a tendency to run a little warm when sitting in traffic or a drive thru. I guess my question is, has anybody had this similar issue? Does anybody have any suggestions or upgrades I could do to make the cooling/heating system more efficient?

If its coming from the passenger corner and not towards the middle it's either the upper rad hose or the radiator. Double check your rad hose to see any obvious cracks or wear. If its not that I'd just go ahead and say radiator. Nothing else over there coolant wise.
