Okay folks I've got a 2001 automatic xj and I need to replace the front axle. What years of xj or other vehicles axles will bolt directly in.

You have a D30 up front.

Any years? Does the high pinion or low pinion make a difference? I don't want to buy something and be stuck with it.

You'll want a 92 and up xj D30, as some/most of those in the years before had the vaccum disconnect front axle. Any TJ D30 will work.

This is truer than most since the 2000+ XJs and TJs are both low-pinion. If you upgrade to a high-pinion D30 you will need to get the front drive shaft as well, and make sure it comes out of a donor with the same transmission (DSes in autos and manuals are different lengths)

he shouldn't need to change the front driveshaft...just the axle.

OP grab an HP30 out of a 92-99 XJ with the same gears, slap it in, be done

ZJs use LP30s also, and CV joints. Avoid.

Thank you...what a brilliant design idea...the more I go through the maintenance of my Cherokee...the more I like it. I see why these are so popular.

I know 235/75/15 will fit a stock 98 XJ
But does 30x9.50R15 fit a stock 98 XJ?
